The Client & The Challenge

Burtons have been producing in the UK since 1935 with a head office at St Albans, a chocolate refinery and a central distribution centre at Liverpool and three manufacturing facilities in South Wales, Edinburgh and Blackpool.
Burtons has over 2000 employees within the UK and is a major supplier to many OEM’s within the Food Industry.

Llantarnams challenge was to improve their Overall Equipment
Effectiveness (OEE) from approximately 50% to over 75% in the first 12 months.

Poetry in process

  • We created a process map of the current production area locating key machines, waste points and settings
  • Site wide training was given on the advantages of ‘data driven decisions’ and ensured a complete buy-in from all employees
  • We then worked closely with the Manufacturing Improvement Team to interpret the data and used our experience as Manufacturing support experts to point out where Burtons needed to go to work to make the biggest impact
